History…

The StanCo Healthy Marriage Coalition was incorporated in May 2006 as a non-profit public benefit corporation. We have been approved by the IRS as a qualified 501(c)3 tax exempt corporations.

Jim and Alicia Steward have worked in marriage and relationship skills education for more than 15 years. The Healthy Marriage Coalition was formed in order to expand the opportunities for couples to receive relationship strengthening skills and also to help provide the latest, and most successful programs and services for our area.

We are pleased that our Board Members, Advisory Board Members, Partnering Organizations and our volunteers are some of the finest in the country. We like to call all these people MARRIAGE CHAMPIONS. Our Marriage Champions include best-selling authors, successful curricula authors, marriage ministry leaders and clinical practitioners in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy and many others.

In 1986, Modesto led our nation by establishing the nation’s first Community Marriage Policy agreement among more than 100 of our area’s clergy and community leaders. The Community Marriage Policy was at the forefront of the marriage movement in 1986. Our goal as a Coalition is to bring our area again to the forefront in building a strong community and helping to make the great Central Valley the most perfect place to live in the country.
